Back on the bubble again

Posted by: Remco In: opinions| web links

Can you feel it? It’s soft and somewhat mushy underneath our tushy. It can only be one thing…the bubble is back! I’ve been waiting for this moment for some time now – after all it’s been almost five years since our last bubble exploded, it’s about time we see some action again.

All the signs are here:

  • Although spending is sky high the US budget deficit is shrinking so the economy is over performing producing money for venture capital.
  • There is a new hype called Web 2.0 (if you don’t know it yet, read up on it because this is what you will be putting your life savings in and believing you will be a millionaire in about a year or two).
  • There are literally thousands of new start-ups about claiming to be true Web 2.0 companies probably giving free shit away trying to gain market share to attract free money potential investors.
  • Investors are investing again.
  • Tech companies are on the prowl to buy market share because they feel their growth is too slow.
  • It’s actually cool to wear t-shirts of tech and internet companies again.

Are you not in the right mindset yet? Just watch these five episodes (in Dutch) of a documentary about the rise and fall of Magic Minds in The Netherlands, or the documentary StartUp.com which covers the same rise and fall of Govworks.com (bittorrent). They are both equally inspiring…

So as long as some nut doesn’t fly into some tall buildings on US soil (who cares what happens in other countries anyway?) we should be all good. The future so bright, I’ve got to wear shades!

Digg it

You might want to refer to the actual, unabridged list of EVERYTHING 2.0 at http://bobstumpel.blogspot.com.

It’s a nice list, I must admit, but a bitch to navigate! How about registering a domain name and making a directory that’s actually user friendly. That would be the WEB 2.0 thing to do!

Who am I? That's a pretty big question for such a small space. Check out my about page to read where I come from, check my LinkedIn profile to see what I did and that should give you a pretty good overview.
